Yes. A new feature-film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing is currently in development, with an international production team spanning Canada, the UK and Hong Kong.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS VERSION?
The film keeps Shakespeare’s original Early Modern English while relocating the story to a contemporary post-conflict setting, using modern visual context rather than rewriting the play itself.
WHO IS MAKING THE NEW MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING?
The film is being developed by emerging UK production company Quiltone Arts, alongside Canadian production companies Fast Motion Films and Clever Creature, and Hong Kong-based Red Packet Media.
WHEN IS THE NEW MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING COMING OUT?
The film is currently in development and targeting production in 2027, with a planned release window in winter 2027.

IS THIS A MODERN RETELLING OR THE ORIGINAL SHAKESPEARE?
Both. The setting, visual language and surrounding context are contemporary, with silent narrative scenes to give new context, but the production preserves Shakespeare’s original language and core story.
